Throwback Tuesday: Movies

Summer is perfect time to remember and re-watch some good old movies. This is little recap of few movies I was obsessing in my kid/teen years. I will start with my absolutely favorite teen romantic comedy. At the time there was so many movies like this one but 10 Things I Hate About You stands out and still brings a smile on my face. I adore Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger and their beautiful love story, when I think of them I think about this movie. It has been so long since I seen it but I still remember every single thing.

This post simply can not go without Titanic. Now this was true obsession. I've seen Titanic million times. I went to the movie theater twice and as a Christmas gift I got WHS ( new generations if you don't know what this is google it... haha ). I watched it every single day for weeks, after that only every few days. I know every scene and every little detail...do I have to mention my love for Leonardo DiCaprio? Those were the days! I was collecting everything, from mega posters to tiny magazine pics. I still like to watch this movie because it brings so much memories...and it is fun because I know know pretty much the whole movie by heart.

Cruel Intentions was also very popular. I don't have to say anything about the trio Sarah Michelle Geller, Reese Witherspoon and Rayan Phillippe. Each of them was prefect for the role and I'm sure that this movie would have the same success today as it had years ago. Lies and skeems, good girl vs bad girl is always a win. One more thing that always reminds me on this movie is theme song Bittersweet Symphony, whenever I hear it I imagine Rayn Phillippe walking down the street.

When I was teenager popular movies were romantic comedies, horror movies and disaster movies. When it was about saving the world Arrmagedon was my favorite. Whenever I catch it on TV I take a look because I still like it. It's funny and dramatic and it has everything you need to relax for a little while. 

What's your favorite scary movie? Well none today but back in the day it was definitely Scream. When I was a kid I was crazy about these types of movies. And there were so many of them but Scream was ultimate scary movie.Everyone knows this is a classic and I bet everyone has seen it. My friends and I were watching this movie every sleepover and every birthday party. Scream 2 was also very good and popular but those that came after that didn't get my attention. 

Random #4

June is finally here and beautiful  weather came along with it. For that reason June is probably my favorite month of the year. When the weather is good everything is better. Flowers and bright colors are everywhere...and summer clothes is out!

Maybe a month ago I went to see Avengers with my boyfriend. I knew he is going to like it because he loves superhero movies but I'm not a fan of them...Surprisingly I liked Avengers and since that we were in superhero mood. We've seen all Marvel's superhero movies and even a bigger surprise to me is that I like them, I'm not going to run to the movie theater to see Iron Man 3 first day it comes out but I'm sure I'm going to watch it. I thought something like that will never happen because only superhero movie before Avengers I've seen was Thor and I didn't like it very much...

Now when I'm mentioning Thor I have to say that I didn't know until recently that Chris and Liam Hemsworth are brothers...I can't believe that I didn't realized it sooner because they look the same. By now you have probably realized that I just wanted a reason to post picture of them.

All the movie talk just made me think about TV shows. True Blood starts at Sunday. Yeeeeey!!! I can't wait! It has been a long time since last summer...Trailer #1 , trailer #2 , teaser!!

Also next week starts new TV show it's called Dallas. I can already see that I'm going to be in love with it, I'm sucker for shows like that and I can't imagine that I might not like it...I will let you know my impressions after few episodes.

Pretty Little Liars Season 3 started few days ago. I'm watching it. I want to stop but I can't. I'm not strong enough...lol. But the thing is that I always liked Pretty Little Liars in the summer. It is not that I think that something will happen for real but I'm just saying it is good for summer, it is not bad summer entertainment.

Snow White, Alice, Belle...

It seams that fairytales are everywhere these days. I am someone who really loves them, ever since I was little girl watching all the Disney classics. I still like to watch them because I think you are never too old for good cartoon, but classic fairytales seam to have special place for me. The first  Disney classic I saw was Beauty And The Beast, it was always my favorite and last year I decided to watch it again and it was perfect. I think I liked it as much as first time. Past few years  fairytales became very popular and they are turning into movies and TV shows. I really like it but I hope that everyone will know when is time to stop because when everyone is doing exact same thing it is not that fun anymore. Anyway, I think everything started with Alice In The Wonderland. I adore that movie. Well, something made by Tim Burton with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter can't be bad...After Alice suddenly came Red Ridding Hood. Movie with Amanda Sayfired in lead role, I have watched it and really enjoyed it! After few fairytale based movies, fairytales started winning over television too. There is Grimm ( I've never seen it, so I can't say much about it ) and Once Upon A Time which is one of the best new TV shows at least in my humble opinion  

This year we will have two movies about Snow White. At first I didn't like the fact that both movies based on Snow White, because there are so many different fairytales. But now I think that it will be fun to see remake of one story with totally different approach. The one I can't wait to see is Snow White and Huntsman, mostly because Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. This one seams to have a lot of action and it is little bit darker than I ever could imagine. Kristen Stewart is playing the role of Snow White and I'm looking forward to see her in something other then Twilight. The "other " Snow White movie is Mirror Mirror with Julia Roberts as evil queen and Lily Collins as Snow White. This one is a comedy and I would like to see it too.
Next season on television it is very likely that we will be able to watch TV show based on Beauty And The Beast. When the time comes I'm sure that I will check it out. I don't know is there going to be more fairytales based movies any time soon, but if there was what would you like to see? 

Random #3

I've seen American Reunion last week. The movie is hilarious All the characters from the first one are here and they are still funny. I loved the first three movies ( I know that there are more sequels with different cast and I'm ignoring that  ) and I figured this one will at least be good but it was more then just good. I can't remember when was the last time I was laughing so hard while watching a movie, if you want hour and half of fun don't miss it!

Lately (meaning: since I first heard her ) I'm obsessed with Adele, my current favorite is One and only.

I don't know do you remember my last random  post when I told you about my one month absence from buying nail polishes, there is only 2 days left

The Hunger Games

Recently I got a early Easter gift - two books from The Hunger Games trilogy: The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I read both of them in just few days and I can't wait to read the last one. I really love first two books, I've heard many great things about them and now I can say that all the compliments are justified. I love the story and I love the characters, the books are very interesting and I enjoyed reading it.  At the very beginning I was wondering how will everything go down because I was 100% spoiler free but it didn't take long to get completely into it. After I was done with The Hunger Games I waited few days and then started  reading Catching Fire. But when I had it in my hands I couldn't put the book down. I must admit that when I finished the first book I was little bit skeptical  if the second book is necessary  because I have a feeling that everything has to have sequels these days. So I had no idea what will second book be about and how will the story go on, after only few pages of Catching Fire I could easily see how wrong I was. I think that maybe I like Catching Fire even more then The Hunger Games. Mostly because the plot was very interesting, unpredictable and you never knew who is the person to trust. Also I liked new characters. 

Now I can't wait to read Mockingjay, hopefully they will translate it to Croatian very soon. I could probably find English version somewhere online but I'm not into e-books at all. I would rather wait for real thing, I just hope that I won't have to wait for long.

Right after I finished reading The Hunger Games I went to see the movie. All I can say after seeing the movie is that I'm really disappointed. I know, I know... the book is always better but I didn't even had high expectation and still... Everything was so much better in my mind. They changed so many things and left out many great parts from the book. The good thing about the movie were actors and I liked how they shown the Districts and Capitol...everything else not so much. If you have seen the movie tell me what you think about it? I really want to know how you feel about it :)

The Help & The Vow

Few days ago I've seen The help. I was really looking forward to see this movie mostly because of amazing cast and interesting story. After watching the movie I was amazed by it.  There is a story which is in the same time so beautiful and so sad, also there are some great characters. Emma Stone is the one I always love to watch but my favorites in this movie were Octavia Spencer (who got an Oscar for her performance!) and Jessica Chastain. The storyline is set in Mississippi in 1960's when Skeeter (Emma Stone) decides to write a book and interview the help - black woman who spend their life raising white children. I won't discover anything else, I will just recommend The help to anyone! Watch this movie!

Another movie that I recently saw is The vow. I went to cinema with my friend and we were very excited to see the movie. We saw trailer few months ago and we were thinking this has to be great, plus the lead role is Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. After seeing this movie I was just like my friend disappointed with it. It just wasn't what I expected. I like the story, especially when I know that the movie is based on true story but watching it I wasn't impressed by it. I think if The vow was a book that I would love it, as a movie it was little bit flat. All I could think was...this is sad...and nothing else. For me this wasn't one of those movies that you see and think about them later, I just forget about it...

Elf

I love this movie! Will Ferrell is great in the role of elf and I think this movie is perfect family fun in Christmas time!

Grinch

Grinch is one of the Christmas classics. I think that this year I will watch the movie, last year I was watching cartoon! It was so amazing to remember my childhood with it because How the Grinch stole Christmas was my absolute favorite during Christmas when I was a kid!

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol is beautiful Christmas story, it is animated movie and really worth watching! I've seen it for the first time last Christmas.

Four Christmases

This is actually the movie I've watched few days ago. It is not the best movie I ever seen but it's good and there are alot of amazing actors like Vince Vaughn, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Duvall...

The flight before Christmas

The flight before Christmas is beautiful animated movie. I think it came out last year, I've seen it and it is really adorable...something I will definitely watch again this year!!

In the end two movies I have seen million times but they never get old...for me it is not Christmas without them...Home alone :)

Sex and the city TV show / movie is coming back?

Last few days there has been a lot rumors about third Sex and the city movie and about possible new episodes of TV show. Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed that they are working on new movie and that they already have a story which they want to tell but they still don't know when will shooting start. Beside the movie there is also strong possibility of new episodes of TV show. In the show we would see what was happening in life of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte before they became someone in Manhattan. I'm not surprised by any of this because I think both TV show and the movies were too successful and that the makers will not give up from them that easily. Sex and the city TV show is my all time favorite TV show and I think when it was canceled in 2004 it was perfect timing because the show was still on it's best and after that when you think about it you just think how great it was. I can't count how many times I've watched it. Then the movies came. First movie was great...it was so good to see the girls again and to see all  pieces  came together. Second movie was not that great as first one and you could see a lot has changed if you compare it to the show. What I didn't like was that the story little bit to poor...but still it's Sex and the city :) If the new TV show and the movie come, I know that I will be the one sitting in movie theater and watching the show but I'm not sure if it is the best idea. Younger versions of SATC characters will be Elizabeth Olsen as Carrie, Emma Roberts as Miranda, Blake Lively as Samantha and Selena Gomez as Charlotte. Well, now when I look at it I really can't imagine that someone else is playing these characters but maybe this turn out to be great. 

Harry Potter And Deathly Hollows part 2

Last night at midnight I went to see the last Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the deathly hollows Part 2. I was really excited about it, because I am a huge Harry Potter fan and I was wondering how will the last movie look like. Also, this is the last one, which means after 10 years there is no more HP movies...which is little bit strange. After the seeing the movie last night  I have to say that I can't wait to see it again. It is fantastic! I think this is my favorite Harry Potter movie, there is a lot of details and even the things they changed from the book don't bother me. They did an amazing job, you can see and feel the tension you feel when you read the book. I think I was never this happy after seeing Harry potter movie. This makes me want the read all the books all over again :) because I am thinking.. if I love the movie so much how would it be to read the again :D I am really tempted now :)

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Last night I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I loved it. I think that this movie is everything that you expect from POTC series. It's fun and adventurous. I like how they developed story for this movie and even though this is fourth movie from series, it is still interesting. Johnny Depp was once again amazing as Jack Sparrow, I think that for many people he is the reason why they like Pirates of the Caribbean and he totally justified all expectations in my opinion. In this sequel Keira Knightley and Orlano Bloom were not part of cast members and I thought that will be huge loss for the movie but Penelope Cruz did her job excellent and I didn't miss them that much. Still, if them make POTC five I hope to see two of them in it.

Red riding hood + Rio + Fast five

Red riding hood

This week for me was movie theater week. I saw three amazing movies. First one that I saw was Red riding hood. I was talking with my friend about this movie for a while and we both had high expectations about it. Usually when that happens I end up disappointed, but not this time. I really loved it. If you like SF / fantasy or movies you will love it too. It is interesting, mysterious and romantic. I also loved Amanda Sayfired, she did great job in this movie.

Rio

Fantastic animated movie. If you just want to watch something funny and relaxing this is the movie for you. I was watching it with my boyfriend and we had a great time. Rio de Janeiro, birds, good guys vs. bad guys = FUN. Voices in the movie: Anne Heathaway, Jessy Eisenberg, Jaime Fox....


Fast five

 
Again Rio de Janeiro like previous movie I saw but totally different story. Fast five is fifth movie of Fast and the furious series...this one gather all the actors from previous movies along with leading Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. If you are in for some action and  fast cars you won't be disappointed.

My favorite romantic movie is The notebook! Before I've seen it, I've heard about it few times but I didn't know much about it... I just decided to watch it.  Honestly I expected just another chick flick...nothing better then any other romantic movie...and just way to kill 2 hours when I was bored...but then surprise! I was amazed with the story, with actors, with characters...perfect romantic movie in my opinion!  Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosilng became one of my favorite on screen couples...

After I've seen The notebook I noticed that it is a movie based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks and I decided to find out little bit more about him! What I found out was that he is an author of few other novels that a later became movies and Notebook is just one of them ( but still my favorite!!)

I love this movie...at first I didn't wanted to watch it mostly because leading actress Miley Cirus is not of my favorites but I did anyway and I like it a lot.

Amanda Sayfried and Channing Tatum are great in this movie! Love them!

Letters to Juliet

Another movie with Amanda Sayfried in lead role, story about love in beautiful Verona...I was there few years ago and that made everything even better.

Academy Awards 2011 - tonight!

Academy Awards is only few hours away! I can't wait to see all the beautiful gowns...and of course the Oscar winners! I really hope Natalie Portman will win Oscar for best actress...and Inception for the best movie. We will see everything really soon :)

Black swan & Tangled

In last few days I've seen two amazing movies. The First is Black swan. I really loved it! This is a fantastic thriller with Natalie Portman in lead role, by her side are Mila Kunis and Vincent Cassel. The story is really interesting, you just can't stop watching it...I was wondering what will happen next all the time. Natalie Portman already got a Golden Globe and the Critic Choice Award for role of  Nina and I am hoping that she will also win a Oscar because she is sooooo amazing in this movie, her acting  is the best part of a movie for me!

Now something totally different! Few days ago I went to see Tangled with my niece and I don't know who was more in love with it! Well... probably her, because after all she is a kid...but you don't have to be a kid to love Tangled. I always liked Disney cartoons but lately the become a bit too modern for my taste. This one is also modern but nothing too much...so I really had fun watching it.It's funny, positive and of course it has a  happy ending :)
